Sealy Mattress Durability, Support and Care
What the current written warranty means—and what owners should do to preserve eligibility.
Quick answer
No retailer can responsibly promise how many years every Sealy mattress will remain comfortable. Longevity depends on the exact construction, sleeper, support system, use and care. Sealy’s current written warranty for current mattresses is a 10-year limited warranty against qualifying defects; it is not a comfort guarantee or a promise that normal wear will never occur.
What does Sealy’s current warranty cover?
Sealy’s written warranty says current mattresses purchased new from an authorized retailer are covered for defects caused by faulty workmanship or materials, subject to all limitations. The law tag contains the warranty code that determines the exact structure. The current warranty distinguishes 10/10 and 5/10 codes and assigns applicable transportation and inspection costs to the purchaser.
The written warranty identifies qualifying visible-indentation thresholds: greater than 1.5 inches for quilted or tufted mattresses and greater than 0.75 inch for flat, unquilted top panels. Comfort preference, normal impressions below the threshold, stains, liquid damage, misuse and inadequate support are not covered.
Why does the support system matter?
Sealy states that the mattress must be used on a structurally capable solid non-spring foundation or compatible adjustable base with proper bed-frame support. Queen, King and California King frames require center support under the current written terms. When a slatted frame is used without a foundation, Sealy currently specifies slats at least 3 inches wide and no more than 4 inches apart.
An unsupported mattress can feel different, wear unevenly and jeopardize warranty coverage. Confirm the exact frame or base before delivery.
Six ownership practices that matter
Use approved support
Check frame, center-support and slat-spacing requirements for the exact size.
Protect the surface
Use a compatible protector; stains and liquid damage can affect coverage.
Keep proof of purchase
Save the receipt, law tag and model information for the warranty period.
Follow model instructions
Use only handling, rotation and adjustable-base practices approved for the mattress.
Document concerns early
Photograph the mattress without bedding and the full foundation or frame.
Separate comfort from defects
Feel preference follows the retailer policy; qualifying defects follow the manufacturer warranty.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the Sealy mattress warranty?
Sealy's current mattress and flat-foundation warranty page describes a 10-year limited warranty for current products, but the law-tag warranty code determines the exact deductible structure and terms. Keep the law tag and proof of purchase.
Does the Sealy warranty cover sagging?
The current written warranty covers qualifying visible indentations above specified thresholds when they result from a covered defect and the mattress was properly supported and used. Normal impressions, misuse, damage and inadequate support are excluded.
Does a Sealy mattress need a box spring?
Not necessarily. Sealy states that its mattresses can use a structurally capable solid non-spring foundation or compatible adjustable base. Slatted systems must meet the current written support requirements, including center support where required.
Can a Sealy mattress use an adjustable base?
Many current Sealy models sold by Texan Mattress are listed as adjustable-base compatible. Confirm the exact mattress and base combination and follow Sealy's support requirements.
Is the Sealy warranty the same as the 120-Night Comfort Guarantee?
No. The manufacturer warranty addresses qualifying defects under Sealy's written terms. Texan Mattress's comfort guarantee addresses eligible comfort-exchange requests under a separate policy and request window.
