The best starting point is a mattress both partners find comfortable, in a size that gives each enough space. Compare motion transfer, the feel near the edge, and firmness together. Start with a shared Queen or King if your preferences overlap; compare Split King when separate firmness or independent elevation solves a real disagreement.

Match the choice to what wakes you

Queen, King or Split King?

A standard Queen is 60 × 80 inches. A King is 76 × 80 inches, adding 16 inches of total width. A usual Split King is two 38 × 80-inch Twin XL mattresses. King and Split King have the same overall footprint, but a Split King has separate mattress sides and requires different fitted sheets. Confirm the exact product dimensions before ordering.

Do couples always need a Split King?

Will a mattress eliminate every movement from my partner?
