Recycling Process

The process for recycling a mattress involves several steps:

• Disassembly: The mattress is cut open and disassembled to separate the layers. (See image above)
• Sorting: The materials are separated into different piles based on their composition, such as foam, fiber, metal, and wood.
• Recycling: The materials are then sent to specialized facilities for recycling or repurposing:
• Foam: Repurposed into materials like carpet padding.
• Fiber, fabric, and other soft materials: Compressed and repurposed into things like industrial oil filters and cushion fillers.
• Steel, metal, and box springs: Sent to scrap metal recyclers, mills, and foundries, where they can be repurposed into products such as kitchen appliances.
