Can You Wash a GhostBed Mattress Cover?

For GhostBed mattresses with the removable plush cover described in GhostBed's current care guidance, GhostBed instructs owners to unzip the cover and machine wash it. The older version of this Texan Mattress article said to spot clean or professionally dry clean every GhostBed mattress cover and never use a washing machine. That blanket instruction is no longer consistent with GhostBed's current published care information.

However, GhostBed has sold multiple mattresses, protectors and toppers with different cover constructions over time. Use the sewn care label and instructions for your exact model as the final authority. Do not assume a protector, topper cover and mattress cover all use the same washing or drying method.

How to Clean a Removable GhostBed Mattress Cover

1. Check the care label first. Confirm that the cover on your exact GhostBed model is removable and machine washable.
2. Remove sheets and bedding. Vacuum loose dust and debris from the mattress surface before removing the cover.
3. Unzip the removable cover carefully. Avoid pulling or stretching the fabric around the zipper.
4. Machine wash only if your model instructions allow it. GhostBed's current mattress-care article specifically directs owners to remove the plush cover and put it in the washing machine.
5. Follow the label for detergent, water temperature and drying. Do not invent a high-heat drying routine if the care label does not authorize one.
6. Make sure the cover is fully dry before reinstalling it. Trapping moisture against foam can create odor and other problems.

Can You Wash the GhostBed Mattress Foam?

No. Do not put the foam mattress itself in a washing machine or saturate it with water. GhostBed's current mattress-cleaning guidance recommends vacuuming the mattress and spot-cleaning stains rather than soaking the foam.

If the foam gets wet, use as little liquid as practical during spot cleaning and allow the area to dry completely before making the bed again.

Is a GhostBed Mattress Cover the Same as the GhostProtector?

No. The removable mattress cover, the separate GhostProtector waterproof mattress protector and the cover supplied with some GhostBed toppers are different products.
