Quick answer: certification scope matters
GREENGUARD Gold evaluates chemical emissions from eligible finished products. CertiPUR-US applies specifically to polyurethane foam. GOTS can certify qualifying finished mattresses and organic textiles; GOLS certifies organic latex as a material, not the assembled mattress. A brand can use more than one standard, and the exact scope can vary by model.
What the major standards cover
Certifies flexible polyurethane foam for content, emissions and durability. It does not certify the entire mattress or mean the product is organic.
GOTS covers qualifying organic textiles and finished mattresses. GOLS covers organic latex as a material. Check the certificate scope rather than treating these as interchangeable.

Frequently asked questions
Is CertiPUR-US an organic certification?
No. CertiPUR-US evaluates flexible polyurethane foam for specific content, emissions and durability criteria. It does not certify a mattress as organic.
Does GREENGUARD Gold mean zero emissions?
No. It means the eligible finished product was tested against defined low-emission limits. It should not be described as having zero VOCs.
Which brand has the strongest organic certification story?
Among Avocado, Helix and WinkBed, Avocado has the most extensive organic-material certification program. The exact credentials still depend on the specific Avocado model.
Can I shop these mattresses online?
Yes. Texan Mattress offers online ordering and free delivery to the contiguous 48 United States on eligible models. Delivery timing and service level vary by mattress and destination.
