A Twin XL mattress is approximately 38 inches wide and 80 inches long. It has the same nominal width as a Twin with about five extra inches of length. It suits one sleeper who wants more legroom without moving to a wider mattress.

One Twin XL or two for a Split King?

One Twin XL is a single mattress. Two Twin XL mattresses placed side by side create the usual 76-by-80-inch Split King footprint. For a two-mattress setup, compare finished heights, each sleeper’s preferred feel and the exact base configuration. A standard Twin frame is usually too short for Twin XL.
